One sunny day in October 2015, at the top of Mount Saleve in the French Alps, Simon proposed to tom boy Charlotte with a ring that ‘couldn’t have been more perfect’. After meeting us at a wedding fair shortly afterwards, they booked their wedding at Berwick Lodge. Fast forward 9 months and the couple held their black and white (with a touch of Superhero!) themed wedding. And here’s what it looked like..

For their ceremony, Charlotte & Simon used Berwick’s styling package with the addition of Charlotte’s own black organza sashes and fresh white roses to decorate the chivari chairs. Charlotte, her mum and her sister all had great fun decorating the ceremony room together the night before the wedding.

The last minute arrival of an ice sculpture, containing a rose similar to that in Charlotte’s favourite film Beauty and the Beast, was an impressive, personalised feature to the wedding ceremony table.

The couple chose their vows from the traditional options provided by the wedding registry. They did however write their our own vows to exchange in private on the morning of the wedding. Aw..

Charlotte always loved the classic black and white look, tuxedos for the men and black bridesmaid dresses. Luckily Simon has very similar taste so was easily agreeable! As well as the taste in styling, the couple both have a love of superheroes from their comic reading days as children.

Charlotte & Simon decided they wanted to make most of the wedding items themselves to add their personal touch. Save the dates, wedding invitations, the table plan, place cards and superhero table names were all designed by the bride and groom and printed by an online printing service.

Table centre flowers were lovingly arranged by Charlotte’s talented 17 year old sister, Alicia, who even got up at 3am to go to the flower market! Alicia chose white roses, peonies and carnation sprays in black vases for table centres and with black ribbons securing them as bouquets.

Having spent many an hour on the Bride’s-best-friend Pinterest, Charlotte discovered a cake that couldn’t be more fitting with their black and white/superhero theme. She approached Helen Clothier of Crumbtastic with the idea and Helen gladly made their cake a reality.

This work of art was a 3 tier reveal cake: a traditional white wedding cake with back ribbon on one side and a super hero on each tier on the other side – Batman, Superman and Captain America. The three tiers boasted different flavours of Chocolate and Vanilla Cream, Red Velvet and Coconut and Vanilla cream.
